Provincial Food Security Profiles

 

A food security profile has been compiled for each of the 24 provinces and municipalities of Cambodia. Click on any of the Provincial Profiles listed on the left side of this screen for information on aspects Food Security in that province.  We apologize if the page you request takes a long time to load to your browser.  WFP is in the process of modifying the pages to correct this problem.  As as a result, some provincial profiles are still under construction.  The sections in each of the Provincial Profiles, include:

Province Background:

This section describes the geography and population of the province and includes an administrative map.

 

Child Malnutrition and Mortality:

This section describes aspects of child mortality and malnutrition at the province level in 2005.  Supporting data is provided in the form of tables, graphs, and maps, including:  Protein-energy malnutrition among children; percentage and numbers of stunted children; percentage and numbers of underweight children; and a rank comparison of malnutrition in the province with all other provinces.

 

Food Availability:

This section describes people's ability to meet their own food needs through their own agricultural production.  Supporting data is provided in the form of tables, graphs, and maps, including:  access to agricultural land; percentage of rural households producing crops; field crop production by type and season; and livestock production.  There is also a description of the rice food balance within the province which compares availability and minimum consumption needs at the commune level.

 

Food Access:

This section describes people's ability to earn cash income with which to buy sufficient food for an adequate diet.  Supporting data is provided in the form of tables, graphs, and maps, including:  Consumption poverty, household asset poverty, employment and labor force characteristics; market access; and percentage of population below the poverty line in year 2000.

 

Food Utilization:

This section describes patterns of food use and utilization among mothers and children.  Supporting data is provided in the form of tables, graphs, and maps, including:  malnutrition rates among women; maternal care; mother- child care practices; child illnesses; child micro-nutrient malnutrition; and access to sanitation and safe drinking water.

 

Food Vulnerability:

This section describes patterns of food use and utilization among mothers and children.  Supporting data is provided in the form of tables, graphs, and maps, including:  agro-ecological and socio-economic vulnerability.
